About JET

JET is a web-based employment portal focusing solely on Apprenticeships & Traineeships. This not for profit, community based service has been operational since 1999, with over 15,000 registered users to date. Registered jobseekers receive weekly emails containing apprenticeship and traineeship vacancies in the industries that they select: there is no time wasted looking through endless columns of classified advertisements, and because email is the main communication medium, there is no missed calls when that job would have been just perfect for jobseekers.

JET is committed to promoting the career potential of all apprenticeship and traineeship disciplines in order to provide a range of industries with high quality apprenticeship and traineeship candidates.

The idea

The brainchild of Alan Montague, Manager of Apprenticeships and Traineeships at RMIT University, the website project was formed to support students and job seekers find apprenticeship and traineeship positions.

Operational since 1999, JET Apprenticeships & Traineeships (formerly New Career Connections) is the only employment website in Australia that provides jobseekers with access to a central pool of job vacancies that are exclusively apprenticeships or traineeships.

The community, not-for-profit online service is funded by RMIT University, MAS National.

Objectives

The key goals for JET Apprenticeships & Traineeships are:

  • To provide apprenticeship and traineeship job seekers with a comprehensive web-based employment service and general information systems.
  • To provide Careers Teachers, Parents, Employers and potential sponsors with general information about the Australian Apprenticeship system and provide information on how JET can assist Jobseekers in obtaining employment.
